Peter Schlegel - Artist Profile
Peter Schlegel (1948)
After finishing school, I studied at the University of Zurich (law). 1981 -2012 employment with the administration of the Swiss Confederation (Swiss Federal Administration).
At the same time, I have been continuously involved in drawing and painting since school.
For over 10 years, I have turned my former hobby into a profession and, together with my wife, run a gallery with a studio in the Lorraine district in Bern.

For many years, I attended courses in figure and portrait drawing (Edy Fink) and watercolor painting (Paul-Rudolf Riniker and Hanspeter Fiechter).
I also took part-time training courses at the School of Design in Bern for several years (free painting studio with Andreas Schärer: people as a picture theme, plant drawing in the botanical garden with Irene Zemp).
The themes of my paintings are:
Portraits / Figures
Landscapes / Cities
Flowers / Fruit
For me, the "painterly" aspect and the joy of painting are the most important thing. For me, it is not about making ideological, philosophical or even political statements with my pictures.
In the course of my painting career, I have taken part in various group exhibitions, for example in the VITA gallery in Bern. I have held solo exhibitions with my wife, for example in the Doktorhaus gallery and in our own gallery in the Lorraine in Bern.
